Bounce Into a Secure Future with The Silver Kangaroo

Created by the Perth Mint, each Kangaroo Silver Coin is made of exactly 1 troy ounce of pure .9999 silver bullion. The Australian government has given it a legal face value of AU$1, though it is traded based on silver bullion content.

The Perth Mint started making these bullion coins in 2016 and since only a small number of each design is made, these coins are very popular among collectors.

About the Perth Mint & Kangaroo Silver coins

Perth Mint, which is one of Australia’s official bullion mints, is owned by the Government of Western Australia. It was formed in 1899 as a branch of the Royal Mint of the United Kingdom to help the commonwealth produce bullion. It is the only Royal Mint location in Australia that remains operational. The mint is well-known for making the world’s biggest and heaviest gold coin – also in the Kangaroo collection. This coin weighs 1012 kilograms and is the most valuable bullion gold coin in existence.

Perth Mint is renowned for the quality and finish of its bullion coin products and the Kangaroo silver coins are no exception. Every year, the mint is known to put out two types of these silver coins: proof coins and frosted uncirculated coins. Unlike other silver bullion coins, this collection has a high value because they are rare and part of a long-running series of silver coins.

Even though it was the third major silver bullion coin made by Perth Mint, after the Silver Kookaburra, the Silver Koala, and the Silver Wedge Tail Eagle, the Silver Kangaroo was the first of its kind as the Perth Mint’s first .9999 pure silver coin.

Features of the 1 oz Kangaroo Silver coins

On the front of 1 oz Australian Silver Kangaroo Coins (until 2023) is a picture of Queen Elizabeth II. This portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is the sixth generation to be used on Australian coins and Jody Clark designed it in 2015 for the Royal Mint of England. This design shows the Queen with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head in right-profile relief. Her name, the word “Australia,” and the face value of the coin, “1 Dollar,” are written around the portrait. The 2022 coin is the last to feature the Queen, following her death in 2022.

The back of the coin has a beautiful design of a kangaroo, which changes every year. It says “AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO” and has the “P” mintmark of The Perth Mint, as well as the coin’s weight, purity, and the year.

These 1 oz Kangaroo Silver coins are supplied in uncirculated condition and are protected by a plastic case. They can be purchased as singles, in tubes with 25 coins, or Monster Boxes with 250 coins that are still sealed from the mint. Add this beautiful coin to your collection today.
