About the Rand Refinery
The Rand refinery was constructed in 1920 near Germiston, South Africa, to capitalize on the country’s abundant gold reserves. South Africa is one of the most prominent places in the world to purchase gold bullion, and it has always been at the top of the market for producing and selling precious metals.
The Rand refinery gained worldwide recognition as being the only facility to refine and produce the Gold Krugerrand, the world’s first bullion coin and arguably the most well-known bullion currency worldwide.
Today the refinery is the world’s largest single-site integrated precious metals refining and smelting complex and more than a third of the world’s gold has been purified by them. They are a reliable source for responsibly obtained high-purity precious metals.
In addition to producing the Krugerrand, the Rand Refinery also produces sleek, attractively constructed gold ingots with a purity of 9999, such as these 1 oz gold bars. The refinery also produces 2 gram, 5 gram, 10 gram, 20 gram, 50 gram, and 100 gram ingots.
Features of the 1 oz Gold Rand Bar
On the front of a Rand Refinery gold bar, you can see the company’s logo and information about the bar’s weight and purity. “RAND REFINERY,” “Au,” “999.9,” “1oz,” “FINE GOLD,” and at the end of the bar, there is a serial number with two letters and six numbers. The number on each bar starts with RR, which stands for Rand Refinery.
On the back, there is a horizontal pattern of a baby elephant’s trunk holding onto its parent’s tail as they walk. Behind them is another elephant, and this pattern is repeated four times on the back, each time with the image of the previous elephant turned upside down. The image represents the Savannah elephant – the world’s biggest land animal with ivory tusks almost as valuable as gold. The inscription on this side is “LOXODONTA”, the scientific name for African elephants.
The gold bar is sealed in a capsule in the middle of the back of the sealed pack. A black assay card from the Rand Refinery is wrapped around the capsule. At the top of the assay card are the words “Rand Refinery” and its logo. At the bottom of the card is the phrase “Rand Secure.” The serial number, weight, and purity are written on the other side of the assay card.
These 1 oz Gold Rand Bars are distributed in uncirculated condition and arrive sealed in an assay card, as mentioned above. Shop today or contact our team if you have any questions.
